PRodigy PR Firm- 12 Days of Service

This year I have the honor of serving as the service project leader for PRodigy Public Relations Firm. The PRodigy Public Relations Firm is a campus-based, student-run company on the campus of Florida A&M University. Each associate not only has to have a passion for public relations, but they must also be dedicated to service. Our advisor, Gina Kinchlow, always reminds us, "students need to understand that good companies practice social responsibility by giving to the communities where they are located."

After months of planning, my team and I organized "The 12 Days of Service." The idea came from one of my favorite Christmas carols, The 12 Days of Christmas.

Our service project included a can food drive in collaboration with Leon County Girl Scout Troupe 111, a campus and community wide food drive, "Feeding America" at Second Harvest, "Good luck on Final Exams" pencil giveaway, student appreciation breakfast, faculty appreciation breakfast, and ended with "Holiday Celebration at Riley Elementary" on Friday December 9th.

Words from our advisor, "JOB WELL DONE!"

Support The Children's Campaign for Project Mayday

TALLAHASSEE, FL- How many Floridians are aware that 22% of Florida’s population is under 18 years of age? It is generally thought Florida is a retirement state. How many Floridians know if current trends continue that 1 of every 4 children in Florida will be living in poverty? What is the plan to address the needs of these kids? Is it known that lack of investments in maternal health leads to higher rates of low birth weight babies and that the costs involved in the long run far outweigh ensuring access to high quality maternal health care in the first place?

The mission of The Children’s Campaign, the most dependable and effective child advocacy organization is to speak for the 4-million Florida children who have no political voice of their own. The organization is non-partisan and does not become involved in elections. Their sole focus is what is best for Florida’s kids. With your support this organization can be awarded $100,000 of services from BowStern Marketing Communications.

Roy Miller created the nationally recognized Children’s Campaign in 1992. It is the only statewide organization that is both a watchdog group and advocacy organization. The Children’s Campaign offers specific policy recommendations to policy makers based on suggested improvements and reforms gained through consensus building across complex systems of care. It’s a unique organizational model that allows the passionate staff, governance volunteers, and citizens to effectively advocate for Florida’s children.

Five promises are used as platforms to reach the organization’s goals. They include;
1) Maternal, Infant and Child Health, 2) Safety, Permanence and Services to Children in Out of Home Settings, 3) High Quality Pre-K, Child Care and Early Learning, 4) Safe and Enriching After School Experiences, 5) Delinquency Prevention and Juvenile Justice
Reform.

The need for our work is universally accepted when matched against the existing need. Florida’s children are in crisis when evaluated by nearly every indicator of health and well-being. This sad truth would be significantly worse if The Children’s Campaign had not been actively and successfully influencing policies effecting children for almost 20 years.

BowStern is committed to serving in the communities where they operate. The company has launched Project MayDay an initiative to serve a nonprofit in distress across the Big Bend area. Their services will include the development of an integrated marketing plan with support in branding, public relations, advertising campaign development, graphic design, social media, website design and e-marketing.

Each organization interested must go through an application process. Applicants will be assessed on several criteria. This includes, 1) the organization’s current resources to implement marketing initiatives, 2) capacity to support activities, 3) present marketing needs and goals, and 4) services provided/potential overall impact on our community.

Receiving votes is also 25% of the overall score for this process; this is where you come in! The Children's Campaign asks that you visit www.bowstern.com/mayday to place your vote! Simply, click on “Select your organization” scroll down to “The Children’s Campaign” and then enter your email address. Email addresses will not be used for any purpose other than tracking votes.

Voting ends Oct. 21, 2011.

The winner will be announced on November 1, 2011.

Bobbi Boss -- Ocean Wave

Bobbi Boss Indi Remi is my favorite brand of premium quality hair extensions.

Usually, I purchase Natural Yaky Remi, which is a series of straight hair manufactured by Bobbi Boss, but I wanted to spice it up a bit. Since I'm a lover of the Bobbi Boss hair brand I decided to stick with that. When I went to purchase my new hair I was extremely hesitant. I wasn't sure if wavy hair suited me, plus the model on the website gave the hair no justice! However after examining the hair at the hair store and much convincing from the sale associate I purchased Bobbi Boss Ocean Wave. If you are looking for high quality, long lasting, versatile wavy hair GET THIS HAIR!

It is absolutely amazing, just look!

I wish I could put an end to any hurt, that any child feels. From the hungry to the homeless to the abused. I love children so much and hate to see them hurt.
