Nasheema Harvey, I have no choice but to love her like a sister. Our grandparents are friends, our parents are childhood friends and my mother calls her "my other daughter."

Manchester United signs Young

It's official!

The talented midfielder Ashley Young has signed a five-year contract with Manchester United. Young left on his contract at Aston Villa with only 12 months remanning, costing United 17 million pounds ($27 million).

This is Manchester United's second major signing of the offseason after Phil Jones from Blackburn.

Young is definitely a great asset to United, being able to play on either wing and as a centre-forward giving more variety in attack.

United fans get ready!

Mini Weekend Vacation: New York & New Jersey

The fun never ends when you're a jet-setter!

My last weekend adventure took place in New York and New Jersey. I have been to both places numerous times but they never get old.

Saturday morning I flew into LaGuardia Airport with Chafeeza Bain and Nasheema Harvey.

First stop, Country Thyme Cuisine, a gourmet-style Jamaican restaurant in the Bronx was our first destination. The food was delicious!

After, we headed to our apartment in Mt. Vernon, dropped off our luggage and went to Soho, my favorite shopping district in New York, NY. We shopped in Betsey Johnson, Dolce and Gabbana, H&M, Steve Madden, Aldo and more!

We then took a cab back to Mt. Vernon, ordered Chinese food and got ready to party!

The next day we headed to New Jersey to visit Nasheema's family in Patterson and to shop at Willowbrook Mall in Wayne. After traveling and shopping all day we were too exhausted, so our party plans were canceled.

Monday we were up bright and early to grab a bite to eat and do some last minute shopping at The Galleria and The Westchester Mall in White Plains before heading to the airport.

This trip was very fun, relaxing and way too short!

East Coast, until we meet again!

30 day photo challenge - Day 14: A picture of your biggest insecurity

When I was 14-years-old I was in a tragic automobile accident on the Florida Turnpike. The Dunlop tire on my mother's SUV blew and the vehicle rolled over several times before I was ejected. Along with other injuries I fractured my femur (thigh bone). The surgery to fix this resulted in an ugly scar on my hip and another near my knee. The scar is slightly visible in the picture above, I usually don't take pictures of it, I have the permanent memory on my body.

30 day photo challenge - Day 13: A picture of something you want to do before you die.

I have many goals I want to achieve, dreams I want to fulfill and life-experiences I desire to experience before death. Falling in love, is on the top of my list.

Protect students from cuts!

The House-passed budget would deal a devastating $5.6 billion cut to Pell Grants, which provides college financial aid to low-income families. That means 1.4 million students could be affected and at least 180,000 students would lose their Pell financial aid entirely - limiting their access to college and the job training and increased income that comes with it.

By cutting 5.6 billion to pell grants now, the Federal government could lose an estimated 29 billion in future revenues - a ridiculous tradeoff.Protect students from cuts!

And Blue Martini in downtown Miami for drinks and dessert.

Mini Weekend Vacation: Atlanta Greek Picnic Weekend 2011

GREAT WEEKEND! Friday evening I got on the road to Atlanta with my line sisters Chafeeza and Alexis and my friend Jon.

CHICKEN AND WAFFLES! Saturday I headed to Gladys Knight and Ron Winan's Chicken and Waffles on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, with most of the Beta Alpha Deltas that live in Atlanta or were just in town for the weekend. The service at that restaurant was horrible, management and the employees had unpleasant attitudes. I ordered the "MIDNIGHT TRAIN", this was my first time eating the famous 'chicken and waffles' combination and I enjoyed it. I'm a healthy eater so waffles with syrup and FRIED chicken is not in my usual diet but gave it a try.

OFF TO THE ATLANTA GREEK PICNIC! The madness took place at Morris Brown College. General admission was $50 for non-Greeks and $10 for Greeks. Besides the 90 degree weather, I had a blast! There were thousands of Neos, Prophytes and Seasoned Divine 9 Greeks in the place. Of course my chapter "showed up and showed out"! It seemed like all the sororities and fraternities there combined equaled the amount of Bruhs (Omegas) there! Shout out to them!

Afterwards I did some shopping in Atlantic Station.

The next morning I attended church at Elizabeth Baptist Church on Cascade Road. The church was beautiful and the congregation was lively. In celebration of Paster Craig Oliver's 16th pastoral anniversary, Dr. Joe S. Ratliff visited from Brentwood Baptist Church to deliver the service.

The only disappointment of the weekend was the lost of the Miami Heat to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 6 of the NBA finals. I watched the game at the Ultimate Bar & Grill. The spot was nice, the food was good and the drinks were great.

I enjoyed my weekend in Atlanta overall.

Stay tuned for my mini weekend vacation to New York next weekend!
